Shopfront Window Cleaning

Posted by on May 1, 2016 in Window Cleaning | Comments Off on Shopfront Window Cleaning

City Clean carry a strong list of regular shopfront window cleaning services that we conduct at the start of the working week.  Job ‘runs’ are printed and allocated to the regular window cleaners who attend on the day specified.  It is a regular and important part of our business with unlimited opportunities for growth.  Unfortunately most of our time is spent cleaning existing windows and not marketing to those nearby. Ideally we would service a whole street or block of shops which makes the service more efficient and economical...

Pricing – How Much?

Posted by on Nov 13, 2015 in Window Cleaning | Comments Off on Pricing – How Much?

I have been doing window cleaning in Adelaide for around 10 years now and I am yet to come up with a pricing formula that works and is easy to use. The other day I did two inside and outside domestic window cleans on separate days.  They were similar houses in size and number of windows, but one took just over 1 hour and the other took 3 hours….“Why was it so?” One took 3 times longer (and was therefore more expensive) due to the following: Slightly taller windows that required a step ladder to reach the top Flyscreens that were screwed...

Which Window Cleaner to Choose?

Posted by on Oct 30, 2015 in Window Cleaning | Comments Off on Which Window Cleaner to Choose?

I thought I would pass on a piece of advice when it comes to engaging a window cleaner. Recently we completed a new two story medical centre using the water brush and pole method, the job went smoothly, on budget with no issues at all. The windows came up a treat and the framework was equally as good.  On completion the client and I started talking about the quotes they had received for the work.  It turns out that one quote received was more than double that of ours (and we hadn’t underpriced it).  I was very surprised to hear of such...

Commercial window cleaning in Adelaide

Posted by on Jul 2, 2015 in Window Cleaning | Comments Off on Commercial window cleaning in Adelaide

The cooler months are a great time to get your windows cleaned as commercial window cleaning in Adelaide is in-between the busy summer and pre Christmas seasons.  At City Clean we are fortunate to have a good mix of work types and while the large scale jobs are usually done in the warmer months, in winter the shopfronts and recurring jobs keep us rolling along.  However there is always room to do more.  This is the time of the year that separates the professional window cleaners from the rest as it is very hard for the casuals to get enough...

Look Behind the Website!

Posted by on May 3, 2015 in Cleaning business | Comments Off on Look Behind the Website!

It has always been pretty easy to set yourself up in the window cleaning business but with the increased use of the internet it is getting harder to tell the difference between the professional operations and the ‘fly by nighters’.  In the past it was unusual for the dodgy operators to operate outside of their local network, but nowadays you can set a website up in an afternoon and… ‘Hey Presto’ you are in business all over Adelaide The main advice I can give you is to do some research and ask a few pointed questions: Are you insured? Are you...

Cleaning Building Facades and Awnings

Posted by on Apr 28, 2015 in Cleaning with a Water Brush | Comments Off on Cleaning Building Facades and Awnings

Another bonus of cleaning with the water brush is the ability to wash building facades and commercial awnings to remove light dirt and road grime build up.  Previously this was done using a pressure washer and was quite expensive.  Using low pressure water generally gives a good result for light soilage and is economical enough to do regularly throughout the year.  There is little mess and provided water does not enter the stormwater system it is quick and easy to set up using  poles that can reach up to 4...

The Advantages of cleaning windows with a Water Brush

The Advantages of cleaning windows with a Water Brush

The use of di-ionised water run through a brush has seen the areas that can be cleaned increase.  Using traditional window cleaning methods works really well for glass cleaning but usually the framework and surrounds were left to a wipe with a damp rag.  Generally though the nooks and crannies fill with dirt which is hard to remove with a rag and that is where the use of water to rinse is such an advantage.  We quite often wash these areas using plain tap water and then wash the windows using a squeegee giving you the best of both...

Cleaning Road Trip

Cleaning Road Trip

We don’t usually stray very much outside the Adelaide metro area, apart from the Barossa twice a month, but a couple of times a year we take the crew for a few days and do some nursing homes on the Yorke Peninsula.  We have the work down pat now and the bonus is when the work is done there is no traffic jams on the way home, patchy phone reception and plenty of fresh...

Church Rood Cleaning

Church Rood Cleaning

Although window cleaning forms the base for our business we quite often get to do other things that use the same access skills – particularly when it comes to heights.  We recently were called upon to clean the Rood – the large cross inside the St Peters Cathedral.  As we could not get access equipment up the small steps we had to use scaffold to get the 9 metres up to dust and wipe the cross.  It was quite a tight fit for the cleaning scaffold but once it was up we took no time at all tidying up the wooden cross. (pic st peters 6 or...

City Clean gets closer to the ‘Good Lord’

Posted by on May 5, 2014 in High Dusting | Comments Off on City Clean gets closer to the ‘Good Lord’

Whilst we primarily do window cleaning the other major part of our business is high dusting.  It makes sense really as we have the expertise and equipment to gain the high access necessary.  Last week we were doing the high vacuuming of the internal arches of St Peters Cathedral. Not only were we in a ‘place of god’ but we were 6 mtrs closer to  him/her than anyone else – no lightning strikes, so we must be doing something right.  The week before that we were cleaning at that other place of worship next door -Adelaide...
